VPP Act Reintroduced into House

posted Mar 5, 2013, 12:09 PM by Frank Avila Linneweh

House Bill 632 (H.R.632), the VPP Act, was reintroduced into the U.S. House of Representatives on February 13, 2013. The bill codifies the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and promotes greater small business participation. The VPP Act garnered significant support in the last Congress and the new bill was introduced with three initial sponsors: Reps. Tom Petri (R WI-6), Gene Green (D TX-29), Phil Roe (R TN-1) and Mark Amodei (R NV-2). Rep. Larry Bucshon (R IN-8) has subsequently joined as a cosponsor. For more information on the legislation, please visit the Library of Congress's legislative database.

Frank Avila was elected to the National VPPPA Board of Directors this week at the annual VPPPA Conference.

Frank was elected in resounding fashion – a terriffic speech on Monday followed by a strong campaign about his past and future contributions to the VPPPA during the week.  The National Board became a much stronger board today!  We wish you the best of luck Frank in your new position and we know you'll represent Region V well.

Congratulations to Region V's newest VPP sites:
